I know the grey are good because I see them everywhere however I want a smaller size (10 or 20g) and I can only find those in white/red/green so far. I believe all say NSF but to different specifications (I think).

Is NSF rating all that's needed?

I'm looking to change out my 40 gal Brute can on my mixing station. I want one of those nice white ones with the gallon markings but I have NSF. Non sufficient funds

Haha, NSF is the food grade certification I believe, most are NSF 2 and 21. Each # code represents something. None are specifically designed for saltwater obviously so I just don't know which ones are ok besides grey

Any NSF food grade will be ok

NSF (http://www.nsf.org/consumer-resources/health-and-safety-tips/home-product-appliance-tips/food-storage-containers)

Rubbermaid NSF products. (http://www.rubbermaidcommercial.com/rcp/products/subcategory.jsp?categoryCode=foodservice&subCategoryCode=foodservice_food_storage)

Yea I get that but none say NSF food grade that I've seen just NSF 2 or 21 or something else. Does it just need to say NSF?

Nice thanks, do you know if the color ones are any different? There's a white one that says ice only...

Mine only has 32g minimum, it's annoying. I need a 10 or 20. Will just have to order online unless the green/red/white ones are ok

To be honest I just went with the grey ones since that was the consensus and never really looked into the other colors.

Luckily was able to get 2 10g grey brutes online. One for RO/DI, one for saltwater. Do I need to do anything special to prep each container for storage?

I usually just rinse the dust and what not out of mine and call it a day.

Solid with tap or RO/DI?

I have heard green is also food safe but never checked it out. I use the grey brutes like everyone else.

Sometimes I wonder how important the food safe designation is. I've kept my topoff water in an orange homedepot bucket for the last ~4 years and the TDS is always zero when I check it.

when I had smaller tanks I used those as well as old salt buckets.

Agreed, but I think it's more of a concern/guideline with saltwater not top off. Also, your TDS meter is broken [emoji48]
