Can anyone help me identify this algae? I've been told cyano, hair, and turf algae. Any assistance you can provide would be wonderful.321173

I can't see much in the picture. If the pest has a form that it keeps when rubbed slightly, it's not cyanobacteria. Cyanobacteria is a slime that breaks up easily. The methods of handling alga and cyanobacteria tend to be similar, so I'm not sure how critical an id is, but we might be able to help more if the picture were a bit brighter.

Hair algae or turf algae are vague terms & refer to a lot of different species of algae. Most are never properly ID.
Could be one of the algae that AlgaeFix Marine will kill. Worth a try IMO. ;)

If this is a siphoning algae, forget AlgaeFix. You would have to look at the cell structure under a scope to determine if it is. HTH

This is a Derbesia which is a siphoning algae. Very difficult to get rid of & AlgaeFix will not kill it. Just for reference.
