thanks! Also, I have the rock in the sump (with no light) while my display has 280 watts of PC and actinic LEDs on it. The rock in the sump doesnt need light on it does? If that makes sense.

No light necessary. The bacteria will seed the rock in complete darkness.

Depends how much phosphate in the rock... When you see life on the rock.

for bacteria to grow on it, id just give it a week or two. I just cleaned the glass on my sump last week and I can already feel the bio film on it again this week. I keep 140x flow in my sump to keep anything that gets by my filter sock from settling so.

Id probably keep it in the sump for at least 2 weeks. You wouldn't happen to have a sponge filter in the sump by any chance? If so, you could just rinse it out into the new tank and you'll instantly be good to go.

Why not keep her new rock in your tank and you give her some of yours? Bam, instant life.
