View Full Version : Bamboo Shark Egg Question

I've had this bamboo shark egg for about a month and a half now. I think it's getting really close to hatching. The yolk is about 0.5cm in diameter. My question is how small should the yolk sac be before I consider cutting it out? This is if it doesn't hatch by itself, of course. I've read that it should be completely gone, but then I see sharks that still have a little yolk sac left and they're swimming around. If anyone who has experience with bamboo eggs could chime in I'd really appreciate it.

I would let it be until there was no visible yolk sac. At that point, you might want to then make a decision.

That's what I've been reading all over the web. Thanks!

Agreed. Cutting out is a last resort. Only do it a few days after the yolk is absorbed and the animal hasn't hatched on it's own.
