I purchased a Chalice coral on Monday, however unfortunately during the night something knocked it off its rock and I found it upside down on the sand this morning. It has a split down the centre of its rock/skeleton but the soft tissue is still intact, but the 2 pieces will move independently.

Will the coral be OK? It hasnt lost any colour so far and I cant see any damage to the soft tissue part of it. I have attempted to epoxy it to the rockwork so hopefully it will set properly.

It'll be fine. Or nows your chance to frag it. Either way give it plenty of space. They can be very aggressive towards other corals

Get it secured and it'll be just fine.

+1

I have been doing frags of chalices for years. anytime a chalice has a crack, i just continue cracking the chalice like snapping a potato chip in half....leave the better looking piece as my grow-out chalice and then SELL the other. More money means I can buy different chalices ;)

Awesome, as I said I have attempted to secure it but I didnt want to press on it too hard so im not sure if it will hold properly. I will check it tomorrow and see if it is secure.
