Hi,
I am installing a new sump on Friday and I have a concern.

My current "sump platform" ("SP" for short) is only 24" front-to-back. The new sump is going to be 42" front-to-back. I have an extra 20" behind the tank, and I hope to build a second platform behind the current one, so that the sump will lie on both the front and back platforms. I am not particularly familiar with the principles of acrylic sump supports, but I generally get the idea that a sump needs to rest on a very level surface.

If I build a second SP behind the current one, and throw a single sheet of ply running over both of them, may I place the sump on top without fear of splitting or otherwise compromising the integrity of the sump? I hope to use leveling feet on the rear SP in order to get the two platforms as near to perfectly level as possible.

Any thoughts, concerns, or recommendations?

(Assumptions: it is difficult or impossible to remove the current sump platform, since it is also supporting a massive refugium that I hope to not have to remove)
