I am fairly new at this, but I put a brain coral in and it is turning completely white on one side. I have 93cube, Skimz skimmer, Radion light at 80% for 2 hours, otherwise it is ramping up and down over a 9hr period. Water checks out fine. It is at medium depth. Could have gotten stung by a torch but has been moved and is still progressing. Help!

Lights to high perhaps, causing it to bleach out? Try moving it to the bottom on the sand to see if it helps.

In the sand with shade..your bleaching it.

Low in the tank...I'd be shocked if anything could win in a fight with that coral. They are aggressive and have long sweepers. Put it on a flat rock in the sand away from others, if it still is going white turn the light down.

I had my torch to close to my brain coral, the torch was definitely winning the fight.

Placement of corals is key to ensuring health due to other corals stinging or chemical warfare and ideal lighting to feed the corals zooxanthellae.
