I have these large fast-growing and beautiful pink palys that are amazing and I would like to frag them to cut back their growth, but also make some $$$

My biggest concern however, is palytoxin. I also cannot cut away at the rock in my tank because it is a base rock in my system.

Question is....so long as I wear gloves and goggles, can I just cut them off at the base underwater and then use a hemostat to hold them to be glued to a plug?

That's fine.

That's fine.

Most of them have quite long stalks, so I assume just cut it as low towards the rock as possible with scissors? (Scissors that will either be relegated to zoa/paly cutting only)

Care to ID them if possible? It's the massive pink colony in the pic

Yeah, just cut them as close to the base as you can. You might want to turn off your power heads when you do this though. Once you cut them they kind of shrink up, so if your not careful they can get swept away by the current quite easily. You might never see it again. GL.

I think they might be Lord of the Rings btw.

Very good call...now I can name them when I sell them :)

Guess you can just about make up any name you want. I did notice on one side that a few polyps are morphing into a very bright electric pink color with a dark mouth. Pretty cool if you ask me.
