I'm completely new here so please excuse me if this is a dumb question.
I keep freshwater discus and leave my blue LED lights on 24/7 so that they don't freak out in the morning when the regular lights goes on.

Can I do the same on a reef tank? I have a 5 gallon pico tank with 2 juvie clownfish and just acquired my first zoa frag. I noticed that with my blue night light on, the zoas don't close up. Is it ok if the zoas are open 24/7 or do they need their "sleep" too?

Thanks

Its not a good idea to leave an entire set of blues on. If you have the ability to only have one ore two blues then there really is no problem. Also if you can dim them to a lower level that would be good too.

In the end though your not going to scare anything in saltwater with the blues coming on first in the morning. Anything that is scared will adapt quickly.

I have a 10 hour period of darkness on both of my reef tanks.

You always want a dark period. Corals don't have light 24/7 in nature, so they need to maintain a circadian rhythm just like you and I.
