Got the live rock from someone and put it in the tank back in March (I think). Since then these worms have been popping up like crazy. 4/5 of the snails I had in this small tank have been killed either by these worms or by the halloween crab we have. Figured I'd take a picture and see if anyone knows what it is and if its okay to have in the tank. Its super creepy looking IMO.

Could be a bristle worm. If it is they do eat detritus. They are good in small numbers. However, do not touch them there bristles will get stuck into your skin not a good feeling. Bristle traps work well. If you Google DIY bristle worm trap I built one works well. Greg

well its in a tank with no coral so I'm not too concerned about getting them out immediately. i guess I'll throw the rock out when i break down that tank so i don't spread them to other reefers. If anyone agrees or disagrees with it being an eunicide or bristle please chime in.
Thanks for responding guys!

I don't think that this is a bristleworm...which are flat and have no clear distinction of a head.

looks like some type of bristle worm. I'm thinking the crab killed the snails. I use to think snails died off quick. But then I got rid of all the hermit crabs and snails are not dying anymore.
I don't think that is a eunicide as I've had a couple of them and they didnt look like that.
