Can you tell me if this is shedding or dying?

I have had a toadstool for about 3 weeks. It went from always being out to only half and now hardly at all. Some white patches have developed and I can watch pieces of it shed. I have been using a turkey baster to get rid of it.

Leathers shed as they grow, it's very common. They will shrivel up (think pool shrinkage lol) and eventually crust over like a bad sunburn, and then shed. Baste them with flow once they start to shed to help remove the old skin.

Leathers also naturally reproduce by budding, meaning pieces of themselves literally fall off. It happens to my big toadstool all the time.

I believe it's also shedding, but I also believe you need to move it higher in the tank and give it more flow to aid with the shedding. They required high flow and light.
