So my small QT filter has built in plastic "biological ribs" and I am not sure how that works. Does the bacteria grow on them, in between them? I don't know. Well the whole purpose for a QT is to be ready for any disaster 24/7. I'm not sure using that filter will make the QT ready 24/7 because I can't submerge the whole filter in my DT when I am not using the QT tank. Any suggestions, should I get a different filter and use media? And my DT is almost finished cycling, if I were to put that media in the DT now would I have to wait even longer for the cycle to complete? Is there any way to keep the bacteria from growing on the "bio ribs"? The filter is the petco power filter 10 if you want to look it up. Thank you.
