On a recent trip to Floridias Gulf Coast, I brought back a rather strange looking "snail"?!!! I kinda looks like a conch but has a trap door and spiney like protrusions all over it. The the only thing I can find that it even looks close to is a Murex.!? It is a tan color and is the size of a womans fist.
Can anyone help with the identification of this "snail"?:confused:

I suspect you are correct, very likely a murex.
Hard to say which without a picture.

Glad to be of help. These guys are carnivores and feed upon other mollusks (either clams and snails).
