My tank is about 2 weeks old. I have a small refugium section in my sump. 12X18X20 . The sump is located in the stand. It has about 20lb of dry rocks. I'd like to house copepods and cheato in it.

Any recommendation on affordable lights?

Amazon blue red led bulb. Go to hd or lowes and buy a light reflector

Slief recommended some outdoor 6500K LEDs that are doing great for me, they were like 10 bucks each but need a power cord soldered or otherwise connected to the trio of wires. I just used old desktop PC cables. Plus these lights are sealed and have withstood an accidental dunking when I flooded my sump.

I have 2 of these running my 15g fuge now and a LOT of stuff is growing up out of my rocks that I didn't know was there. Very cool if I may say so. I'll be putting bigger versions over my basement setup once my house purchase goes through.

I use these lights over my refugium. They grow cheato like crazy and are very inexpensive and efficient. They are also the perfect spectrum for chaeto. One would light your refugium up like Dodger Stadium.

^^ First I've seen of those, looks pretty cool, I just wonder if it would be annoyingly bright at night for me since my doors are stained glass.

I have the exact same thing on my Fuge and rgb version on my ATS. Adjusted to a purplish color.

I Actually have a friend that has a Gorgeous reef tank with nothing but these lights..He has 12 20 w over a 125 gallon tank. Other then the odd shimmer they give off i would almost swear they are better then my 3 250 w m/h ..

Ebay has the same lights for less than $8 for the 10 watt.

reefbreeders has a nice par38 fuge light with gooseneck.

Expensive though.

How deep can those standard CFL bulbs penetrate?

Has anyone tried using a halide work light? I have one laying around with double ended bulbs. That sucker puts off some heat though.

Prob not so much

Mine are like 6 inches from the top of the tanks...

I have one that is higher up thou . But only because the Mangrove plants are under it..

I also use 2 to w version of these on the tropical tank . and 2 20 w on the saltwater pond.. Pond has no corals so they do just fine .and the Light goes strait down and not fills the whole room..

I have seen someone replace m/h...with them and there tank is doing great

True but the one I linked to has the power cord attached where as the eBay ones have a little 12" set of wires that you need to attach or cord to.

Using a cheap Chinese 160 watt full spectrum dimmable LED (Cheap) and BuildMyLED Fuge LED (Expensive) on our fuge.

Seems to be doing well, more so after I added the cheap Chinese fixture. Took a while for the Chaeto to really take off though.
