Setting up 85 gallon probably going to go LPS not sure at the moment.trying to figure out what substrate would work best for me. Bare bottom out, don't like the look and not fond of cleaning every other day. Love the look of fine sand but afraid of sandstorms. Was thinking of a combo like 85% sand with 15% Crush coral sprinkled around here and there. Any known drawback to this method?

that is what i use and love it, not to big or to small so it doesn't blow all over the place. it may blow for a little bit when you first put it in but once the bacteria get on it, it will weigh it down enough to stay in place unless you have a ton of flow which you won't with LPS corals

Thanks for the link this is exactly what I have been looking for. I also do not like bare bottom but am done with the sandstorms controlling how much flow I can have. So you guys find this stuff is good in an SPS tank with a lot of flow?

I had 4 vorts spinning full blast in my last 150g and no issues at all, though I do bounce off front panel to help deflect that flow.

I myself am quite proud I resisted all obvious dirty and tasteless jokes regarding this thread title...but yeah, that's funny!
