detritus in back chambers of biocube 29

I have a lot of detritus build up in the back chambers of my 29G bicocube and while I will try to get as much out as possible, I was wondering if I should put some small hermit crabs back there. I have so many little ones that I could spare some by putting some back there. has anyone done that? what got me thinking about this is i had lost my lettuce nudibranch (couldn't find him) that I had for a month or so and i just found him in the back middle chamber with my cheato.
