Hi, It's all over my refugium and sump. At first I thought it was shrimp particulates, but they seem to be multiplying and now I see filter hairs!

I don't see them in my main tank, just in my sump/refugium.http://i898.photobucket.com/albums/ac183/spiderman097/IMG_0312.jpg

I believe those are harmless pineapple sponges.
Go to bottom of this link and look at sponge.

Oh thank god. Because they're everywhere in the sump! It looks like you're right, after I googled "pineapple sponge"

Reef Central needs a YES THEY ARE PINEAPPLE SPONGES popup on entering the new to hobby forum........

This is how common they are and how often someone ask what they are.. But its all OK.

I Know its very hard to identify some Marine life as its such a diverse ecosystem

Yep, pineapple sponge. They seem to go away when they run out of stuff to eat (dirty tank stuff). They were really bad within the first six months of setting up my tank. Now with an established tank, and water dialed in and steady, they mostly hide in corners and under rocks. Not a big deal anymore.

Nothing more than a harmless filter feeder. The dirtier your water, the longer they will be there.
