I have a little fishies phosban reactor with little fishies phosban media. I am wonder how often you chance the media? When I change the media, it really hard to remove them as it became very solid and hard, is there any secrete way to remove them easily?

If the media does not agitate slightly @ the top you need to increase the flow.
Stagnant it will harden.

I change the media weekly. Otherwise, IMO, it will become biological NO3 filter.

Buzz1329, Gfo is too expensive to just arbitrarily chuck it.
Check the PO4 in the water coming out of the reactor to see if it is @ or near tank water and needs changing.

IMO = in my opinion.

I use less than amount recommended by BRS calculator and change more frequently for reason stated. In the best of all possible worlds, I would follow testing regiment VK recommends but (1) my experience with PO4 tests is dodgy at best; and (2) even if GFO were still reducing PO4 after 3-4 weeks in use, I'd still be concerned about it producing NO3.
