Im working on two tanks right now, a 14g and a 29g Biocube.
With stock lighting(10k, actinic, one led strip) of the 14g, what kind of corals would I be able to have (mushrooms, lps, softies, etc)? Would adding one more led strip benefit?
In the 29g, Ive decided that I want to do polyps, LPS, and mushrooms. Do I need to upgrade my lighting. If so, does anyone have any recommendations towards an easy to install setup. I am a 23 year old female and not excited about having to try to gut the hood and assemble something electrical.
I purchased some LR from my LFS, he advised to only get half my rock at the beginning so I don't kill off too much of the "extra stuff that Im paying for". Made it sound like I shouldnt be running filter media until after some of the bacteria starts going. Is this a good idea, or should I have already added my intended medias (Chemipure, Purigen, filter floss)
And finally, my protein skimmer...I am not sure if I just dont know how protein skimmers are supposed to work, but both of mine immediately fill up with water. They have both been running for at least a week and a half with both tapwater (test) and saltwater. Sad to say they are the dreaded Biocube skimmer, after seeing how many people on here advise against them, would I just be better upgrading?
Sorry this was so wordy, thanks for help!
