Looking to get this skimmer for my 60 cube. Wanted to toss it out here on this forum to get thoughts from those that use this skimmer. I have done a search and seen several good reviews and some not so good like the impeller cracking, leaking electrical current etc....but these seem to be from mostly the same person. Most of these are also from early on in the year. Any thoughts from folks using this skimmer before I order?
Thanks in advance!

Also meant to mention that I see where folks were saying they were paying $155 from BRS but only prices I have seen for these are $229... Big price difference, maybe they have improved it since the first of the year....seems a large price hike otherwise....
Thanks again

I have a skimz sm201.. Much bigger then the ones your looking at.. It does how ever have a eden pump.. The 5000 model... I have also read and seen the post your talking about. But at the same time i have seen many post where people say they took there pump apart and all looks fine months later..
My skimmer reached 3 months old last week.. I took it apart and checked the pump and impeller with a magnifying glass. It looks brand now.. (well once cleaned)
Skimmer still working great
In 3 months or 6 months or a year i might change my tune. But initial Quality i would say they will last... BRS Does not sell items that have constant issues in my Opinion..
If you get a skimz skimmer get it from brs . they Handle the warranty directly....
Good Luck...

Thank you for the feedback. I think I am going to go ahead and take the plunge.
I have been out of the hobby for a few years and my last skimmer was a bubble magus and I loved it but for the price and the size I need this skimz fits the bill

Another good option is the Aqua Maxx Cone S CO1 or the JNS same skimmer different price There is a long thread on them with lots of great reviews. Low 2's to mid 2's in price.

Thank you for the info!! :).
I actually looked at those but did not find them for less than $289. I have heard good things about them and I am sure $289 is a Great price but i was hoping to stay $200 - $250 if possible

http://www.bigalspets.com/cones-series-needle-wheel-protein-skimmer-co-1.html You are right the price is up I payed less for the Aqua Maxx CO 1 but supply and demand. Have you checked into the Deltec skimmer they have a small unit as well at a reasonable price with good reviews. I believe that it is a 1455 model or something like that.

Supply and demand will get you every time... :). It's all good and I do appreciate the info. No I have not looked at the deltec skimmers...but I will now. I do still have my eye on the skimz one I mentioned here though, price and size seems to work. Just wanted to throw it out here to see if anyone using them had any concerns or praises.
Seems they have gone up too in the last few months as folks were saying they purchased it for $155 through BRS which is now $229. Ugh i have a cart full of about $1,000 worth of merchandise (sump, skimmer, kessil controller, screen top mesh, jeabo rw-8, salt etc...etc... ) and I am not done yet, now I remember all the pain my pocketbook went through all those years with a reef tank...lol. I thought about tossing it together with freshwater fish for a hot minute...lol
Once again thanks for the input!

No one else has anything good or bad to say about the skimz sn143?

Just got the sn143 this past Tuesday and it's already pulling junk out.
Don't think it's fully broken in yet though because it seems to take a long time to recover to normal bubble levels after after it gets shut off then back on.
Overall though I am very happy with it so far. Easy to put together and take apart for cleaning unlike the Reef Octopus that it replaced.

Ive been running the skimmer for months now and I am happy with it. I purchased mine back then through brs (for peace of mind with warranty issues) and it was nowhere near 200 bucks.
