I've been putting together a 40 breeder with 20l sumo system and I'm kind of on the fence about which skimmer I'm going with.

I've heard some people say to make sure that the skimmer is rated correctly to your system. I've heard most people say that factory ratings for falling compatibility are more like guidelines than absolutes and you can never have a skimmer that is too large.

I'd like to go with an aquamaxx coneS Q2 (rated 120-150 gallon systems) I've heard lots of positive reviews on the aquamaxx coneS CO1 (up to 120 gallons) being used on 40 breeders.

Any help or info is appreciated.

I would suggest the CO1.

I agree. There are many good reviews from people using the CO1 on systems larger than yours and they are very happy with its performance.

I would suggest the CO1.

Agreed. IME, skimmer rated much larger than system will result in surges (overflowing one day not producing at all for next 6 days)
