I was looking for a sump to go under my new 24x24 shallow build. I considered building one myself, but the dimensions were pretty challenging and no off the shelf tank I could add baffles to would fit like I wanted. I knew ideally I wanted something with an ATO reservoir. I saw a design I liked on Advance Acrylics site, but the dimensions were not quite right. I gave them a call, and explained I wanted something similar to what was on their site but in slightly different dimensions. The nice receptionist put John, the builder, on the phone who let me explain exactly what I wanted. I told him I wanted to take 3" out of the drain/skimmer section, raise the skimmer section water level by an inch, and add a sock holder. Much to my surprise he said he could do it all for me at the same price as their off the shelf unit. Then I asked him if I could pick the colors and he said sure.

10 days later, this absolute work of art showed up at my door...

Looks great man, I have a sump, frag tank and refugium being built by John at the moment, so far in the past all my tanks from him have been great!

I had read some things from a few years ago about him being slow to complete work and was a little concerned that would be the case. I actually got it faster than I expected and the quality is outstanding.

+1 for John and Advanced Acrylics!

I now have my second sump from him and a frag/fuge tank. Beautiful work he does. I ordered my new sump a month before my tank was supposed to be ready to make sure he would get it done in time... it was delivered to my house a week after I ordered it. highly recommend him for custom work.

Your sump looks great!

AA does great work by his customer service needs some work. If he gets it right, then customers are happy like a kid on christmas morning but if he gets it wrong, it's a nightmare trying to get him to fix his mistake.

Yup. John's workmanship and service is absolute best. Just ordered another sump from him. Should be arriving in a couple weeks.

I've ordered 2 custom sumps from John and he gave me a great deal on an ATO. The attention to detail was amazing, he even offered some suggestions that made my build better.

Not a lot of people know this, but you can order any sump on the site and have them customize the baffle sizes and placement for FREE.

The tank is going well. It finished cycling a few weeks ago. I just have a small Snowflake Clown in there for now. I had a nice collection of SPS frags I had collected over the last few months that have had on a rack in my brother's 180g. I got those moved over to my 30g about a week ago. Here is a FTS...

A list of the SPS starting from the front left and working back and around the "horseshoe"...

How do you plan to fill the ATO?

I run a line directly from my RODI unit to the ATO reservoir.
