Found this guy tonight with a flash light. Some kind of slug, but it's super flat. I checked TBS hitchhiker guide but no joy.

Ideas?

I'm starting to think its a flat worm. Maybe an acro eating one.

And I just figured it out. That's a polyclad flat worm. Groan.

Edit:
I wonder if that's why my deresa kicked the bucket?

Well I got it out of there....but it was in pieces. I had to resort to a pair of tweezers.

It's not going to reproduce from the bits like "the thing" is it?

Yep, they eat snails and mollusks.

I just saw a fairly large one at a LFS this past weekend. They had it contained in a container and it was a leopard polyclad flatworm, and it was large and damn gross. The owner of the worm had lost three clams over the past few months, and this was the culprit. Tridacna clams are their favorite snack!

I will confirm that that is a polyclad flatworm. They will take down a clam in a night and not be seen again for a year. Please be careful when trying to extract due to the fact that if you leave any piece intact, a new worm will grow. I had no idea why I lost two derasa clams until I found one munching on a turbo snail. They are stupid difficult to get rid of as they are so stealthy. I took at least 6 out of my MDT over the course of 1 year. I found the best way to deal with them is to hunt, find the hole they go into and then pump it full of kalkwasser solution. They will generally die or come flying out where you can siphon them out of the tank.

Crazy how they just blend in. Reminds me of the movie Predator lol

I wouldn't be adding clams if I were you

Best time to hunt for them is in the wee hours of the morning a couple hours before dawn. They are nocturnal and surprisingly fast so be sure to have your device for removal at the ready because as soon as any light hits the tank they slither into the tiniest hole in the rock.

Looks like I'm going hunting tonight with my wife's turkey baster. I am almost positive this is why I lost my clam now.

Thanks guys (and gals), I'll keep you updated.
