Are there any problems with using both activated carbon and gfo in the same reactor?

Some people do it but each one requires diff flow rates so it is best to keep them seperate. Also gac usually gets changed out sooner than gfo.

You can definitely mix them in the proper reactor.
Not the most efficient way, but you can do it.
This video explains it all.

I'm not exactly sure, but I would much rather run a tank without either of them. (this can be done)

The water flows through GFO and carbon are different.
Try to do that rector, which cost you nothing.
