Honestly not sure if it's the lighting or just bad photo, but these clams don't look pretty at all.

They have had them before and the looked a little better. I was just wondering if there was supposed to be an advantage to crossing the two.

Funny you should post that picture because I was the one who bought that clam yesterday along with a orange medusa worm. I've heard the care is closer towards a squamosa but lets hope someone with experience jumps in.

LOL I had that clam in my cart but went to dinner. It was gone when I got home.

Where did you get your information?

Sorry about that, anyways it was from an old reef to reef post, the guy said he thinks there are no real hybrids but the care should be similar to a squamosa.
Take it with a grain of salt.

You do know that medusa worm will take out your entire tank if it dies, right?

Yes I now, I've done my research, even had a small one in some macro algae. Oh and I will keep y'all updated on the clam.

Here he is, tried to get the best pics I could. So far so good.

You do know that medusa worm has a very remote possibility to take out your entire tank if it dies, right?

Fixed it for you.

Fixed it for you.

And this has what to do with the ORA Maxima x Squamosa hybrid clams?

Here he is, tried to get the best pics I could. So far so good.Yours is looking good. Got mine two weeks ago, was cool the first week, now this :headwally:

Lately, i've been doing terrible with maximas. Two prior failed attempts in this system placed in the same location, and as many in the prior system:headwalls:

I was correcting someone who was giving false, alarmist information, see below:

And furthermore smart guy, there's pretty much nothing in this entire thread about the subject other than a couple of cool pics. So why exactly are you jumping on me?

And furthermore smart guy, there's pretty much nothing in this entire thread about the subject other than a couple of cool pics. So why exactly are you jumping on me?Have you had one die in your system? I'm sure there are other factors, i.e., carbon filtration, protein skimming, and water volume.
I can tell you I had a sea cucumber which was torn by the idiots at the fish store who scrapped it off the tank with a credit card. I didn't see the injury and it hid in a corner of the tank, guts hanging out a cut in its side. It took out all the fish in my 100gallon aquarium! Lost a beautiful Purple Tang i had for around five years!
Now, prior to that I have had several sea cumbers die in that tank and affect nothing.

Back on the subject, here is my ORA maxima x squamosa hybird today on the sand -

Idk, if hydras on the rock near the retracted lobe caused it to retract, or if the ORA Red Sea mimic blenny decided to taste it, or something else?
I'm hoping it springs back. Never had any trouble keeping T. squamosa, even have a better track record with T. crocea. Kept a crocea alive for seven years, three years minimum! Lately:[

At least it is not gaping. Sure looks like something is irritating it.

Here's another picture of my hybrid, I've been having trouble getting him to attach to a rock I had under the sand so I bought this thing called a clam hammock hoping it will help. Mine really likes to be fed phyto, opens bigger than dd's pic when I feed.

Anyways when I feed him phyto he loves it more than my other clam, he even opens up more than dd's pic so hope this helps yall.

No problem James. I found it interesting that you've been feeding phyto, never did that with any of my clams. Always thought supplemental feeding of clams in our reef systems is not necessary.

Yeah I never feed my derasea but I thought I would just try with him and he seemed to like it.
