Well got the tank. Was a squeeze in the van. Doors didnt shut! Things ks absolutely stinking! Going to need a LOT of tlc! And all the pumps are missing their plugs. One pump is nakered. Nevermind!

Tank has been thoroughly cleaned. Partially filled and emptied to drain any crap. Adjust twin slot brackets in place for lights. Will start ro/di fill tomorrow. Skimmer pump in nakered so going to order a new one tomorrow. Anyone got any experience with the stock skimmer? Any good?

Only got a few hours of ro water in as i cant leave it going when im out ( not plumbed in properly at the moment) is going to take a while with my 50 gpd unit.

On a plus ive ordered a Hydor smartwave 1600 kit ( two koralias and a controller)

Smartwave arrived. Seems. Good so far and i can plug any pumps into it. Only issue i have at the moment is that the pumps are a little noisy as they switch over, hopefully running will quiten them down

Is a pain none of the equipment has a long enough wire. Sorted a few things ouy over weekend. Tank is up to temp, salt has been added. Along with 3 bags of live sand. And the live rock rubble out of my rsm 130d. Ive added a ehiem 1200 pump for the return and bought a tmc v2 400 skimmer. Fits perfectly in the original skimmer section. Hoping the water clears outs by tomorrow, then i can transfer the bulk of my rock... Also started to wrap the entire thing in mat black vinyl.

Sorry, didn't mean to come off as anything but friendly. While 4 ft is large, the "Special Interest" area called "Large Tanks" is specifically for 180 gallon or larger tanks. Not trying to re-classify the world, more of a 'you have to put the line somewhere' - I think they get more grief about the nano sizes too.

Anyway, where it landed, here in "Reef Discussion" is sort of the general reef-tank discussion area and the appropriate place for the thread.


That said, I dig the stand and the photos don't make that look 4 ft, so I like that aspect of the tank for sure, will the tank be taking hte place of the RSM location wise in the room as well?

Fairy nuf. Yes the tank will be taking the rsm's place! The rsm is now empty. Fish and corals are in a tub and rock/sand has been transfered. Tanks cleared overnight and stock will be going in this eve. Finally. Then the rsm is off. Selling it asap

Yes the whole thing witll be going mat black when i get round to it. Not 100% sure what im going to do scape wise. I do like the pillar on the right. Kinda fancy another taller on to its right and leave the rest open. I have some branching tongan to go in too. Got about 4 kg of live rock rubble in the back section, going to add more and also get some cheato growing

Personally, I think it pays to get the scape sorted at the beginning and leave it well alone after that.

Tank has settled well. All inhabitants are alive and happy. Picked up 6 chromis and 5 turbo snails as well as a nice big torch and green plate coral.

Tank is coming along. No new stock but corals are doing well. All the hard stuff is recovering well and starting to show signs of growth again.

Also got a small yellow tang, a nice xenia rock, a small bit of birds nest, 2.5kg more live rock (set behind the left arch) and another small monti (pic soon)

Not a huge amount going on in the tank. Added some live rock to creat a small pillar on the right side. Also added a copperband butterfly which is feeding really well (was a bit nervous getting one as my last one in the old 4 footer wouldnt feed) and added a purple firefish. Also getting anothet led light unit (same as the sanrise i have now) in a few weeka so will be able to add more Corals. Few pics below

Few pica since the new fish were added. Im sure a few people will say im over stocked. Had the same stock near enough (more chromis previously) in last 4 footer nd they were v fat and happy. So far everyone is doing well. Had a little aggression from the YT at 1st but thats gone now

Got a new aquamedic eco drift 4.0 for my bday. Brilliant pump so far. Gets a nice wave effect in the tank. Taken 2 powerheads out since adding that. Looking at getting the next size up and removing the last powerheads.

Unfortunately went awaybto Jamaica for a week and lost the copperband :(

Did some diving in jamaica, saw some nice fish out there!

Also finally ordered a 2nd sunrise wifi LED unit today. So will be looking at getting some more coral to fill either end soon!

Is that green hose the return? It seems a little out of place but maybe its just me.

I was also wondering if you experienced any cycling when switching to the larger tank or did you just let the sand and rock settle and moved everything. Timeline seems like overnight

Yeh it is the return, my lfs had no black hose at the time and its one of hose things i keep forgetting to replace. Hopefully get a bit of black pipe soon! Haha.

And i drained the smaller tank and put water/fish into a big oll tub. Then moved sand (added a couple of new bags too) and rock and added 85% new water. Let that clear/settle for 36/48 hours then added old water and fish/corals. Had very little cycling, a tiny amount of red cyno algae and thats it. Not sure if it was luck or a healthy system but all went a lot smoother than expected.

Got the ehiem in as a new return pumo. Much quieter than previous one, set up with a shorter return pipe with a T-Piece.

Now got two 8w UV pumps on the tank.

Going to set the jebao up tomorrow with the tropic marin abc and phytoplankton.

Did a big scape the other day and also gor a small golden frogspawn frag. Also a little clapping xenia. Love them!

think this is going to be getting a major over haul in the not to distant future. going to be removing everything from the tank, removing all the rear section filtration. adding an end weir and sumping the tank, will be acting as a kind of divider.

got 2 weeks off in august so will aim to have the new stand built by then and get it done when im off :)

Nice looking setup, that mountain bike is killer!!!!

Also, are you concerned at all about the jeabo doser grenading the tank? Lots of people reporting that sometimes one of the dosing pumps malfunctions and stays on.

I don't think Aquamedic sells these tanks in the US, but man they look super nice.
