Hi All,

I'm wondering which pump would be preferable for the TLF 150. I want to run a mix of Carbon and Encapsulated GFO. It does not need to tumble. I have a 30G aquarium so the water volume is quite low.

Looking into these two pumps:
-http://www.bulkreefsupply.com/sicce-syncra-silent-0-5-185-gph.html

The Syncra silent seems to be much more efficient, just 30% more power consumption for 100% more flow and head - but 1/2 inch tubing.

I like the idea of a slow carbon filter - but wonder if 90GPH (likely down to 50 or so after the filter starts getting clogged) would be TOO slow. Technically, this means that the full water volume of the tank would be turned through the carbon each hour, which seems fine to me... and it would increase the dwell time. Since carbon is depleted so quickly, I'm not sure a higher flow would be better. But... a higher flow and therefore higher turbulance may more evenly distribute water through the media.

I'm getting to the point where it's being over-thought, and I'd appreciate some external input.

Much Thanks,
Rob

I use a mini-jet 606 with my TLF 150s. I have 2 connected together, one for carbon, one for gfo and have the 606 on low which I think is 80 or 90gph. 80-90 should be more than enough.

I have a mini jet with 4 speeds...i set it to the 2nd speed.
