View Full Version : I think I have Isopods in the fuge...what shall I do?

I found few critters in the fuge. They most likely came with a ball of chaeto, which I got rid of. They are dark colored (black or brown). Slender and long 1/8" to 1/4". They appear to be flat. They move so fast, and I can only get a glance at them, when I am lucky enough to spot them.

I've been trying to identify them for few days now, but I can't find anything that match exactly what I see. I am thinking they are Isopods.

Is there a way to know whether they are good or bad?

Thanks,

Amphipods are much more common. Google same.

I already have. They appear to be flat. Amphipods have longer legs in the back.

Catch one and put it in a small fish bowl with a fish and cover it for a little while. If you lift the cover and the thing is sucking the life out of the fish, it's bad.
