After 20 years my reef has a case of GHA I can not get control of. I have tried everything. Was considering getting all new live rock and sand and starting over. Now thinking about going to a FOWLR tank.

Tank if 125 gallon with corner overflows and a 3600 gal per hour closed loop. Sump has skimmer and is 40 gallons.

Would I need to add filtration?

Any thoughts?

Has anyone tried to assist you in winning the algae fight? I'd be glad to do what I can, maybe we can formulate a plan to get rid of it?

It's got to be a phosphate problem, and that can be solved even if it's a bad one. 1. is using ro/di, 2. is keeping it 0 tds. and 3. is running GFO in a reactor and changing the medium monthly until you see the green tide thin out and start to go. ALl this coupled with water changes.
