Ok, so you will need to cut the led strips to length, they have a small line where you can cut. You will need to cut/scrape off a layer of the rubber off the contacts to expose them. Tin the wire and the led contacts to make it easier.

For the switch I used to Positive side of the circuit but you can use either so don't worry to much about it. What you want to do is connect the wires to the NC and Com pins so that when the door is closed it opens the circuit, thus turning the lights off. I used industrial velcro i got from work. you can screw yours in or glue it in.

I was thinking about doing the same thing. But I then found led strips that run off of batteries. They are wireless and are controlled by a normal wall switch. Pretty nifty for 19.99 at Walmart. I like yours though.

i found almost that exact set up at IKEA for 24 bucks and it can alternate through 6 or so colors. This is what I ended up using. Just mentioning in case others aren't as handy

I actually bought some LED wardrobe lights at stick 'em up in the cabinet.
But this sounds like a better idea.

I like it. under my 46 gallon bow i have 1 18 inch bar light mounted to the wall behind the stand a couple of inches above the floor. i always leave the switch in the on position so to turn it on i just plug it in

Looking good!

I've got a 24" thin florescent fixture attached to the back of the cross brace under my cube, plugged into a switched DJ power strip. Just flip the top switch, and I've got plenty of light.
