Hi all,
Liveaquaria recently had a sale on 1.5" gold maxima's. I ended up ordering a couple and I was curious if anyone had tips. I've bought and killed a few smaller maximas from a local shop and one or two from vendors at swaps.

My tank has matured (125g over a year old- 8" squamosa and 5" maxima current clams, heavily fish stocked-2 large tangs, 1 large green coris wrasse, 3 firefish, lubbocks fairy wrasse, blue headed fairy wrasse, mandarin goby, 3 lyretail anthias) since I've last tried a small clam. I do have a mixed reef so I try to keep nutrients lower.

I tried placing the clams in a 1" pvc in sand (but one of these guys is so small it tips over...) so I need to pick up some smaller pvc to accommodate.

Other than feed my fish a lot are there any tips out there? Thanks!

Two of the clams aren't opening. One of those is a gorgeous but small DD maxima.

Those are PVC pipes? How are they designed? I've been trying to attach my small clam directly on top of a ceramic plate, but no luck so far.

About 2" of 1" pvc pipe. Nothing difficult. Just need a saw of some sort. I had to use 3/4" pvc for two of my clams.

Well, my DD beautiful one died and had hermits on it this morning.

I will be setting a polyclad worm trap just in case. I randomly check my tank at night with a red light looking for pests (and I have a massive wrasse) so I'm pretty sure it's not a worm but better safe than sorry.

Can you post photos of your trap and tell me how it works? Thanks

First time for me. I just took a smaller soda bottle, cut the top off, inverted it and placed it back into the bottle. Basically a small fish trap baited with clam/or something.

I can take a picture of you need one. I'll let you know if I catch anything in the AM.

I bought one of those 1.5" maximas. It came in and was 1.25" long. They're just ridiculously small. I wont be doing one of those again...
