150gal, 72x24x20h, lee mar single overflow, 38" high black stand, canopy, 60" 4xT5/2x250 DE MH combo fixture, 1/4hp Artica chiller, 2 x vortech 2nd generation (not latest 3rd gen), 60 gallon glass sump, ASM G3 with recirculation and gate valve mods, 300w heater, fuge led light, 2 ice cap ballasts with 2 pendent 250w MH (if needed but included in the deal), sicca 1450gph return pump, mag 9.5 pump

All the equipment is 3-5 years old for $800.

Ya that's a good deal... As long as the tank isn't all scratched up and the seams are good. Check the silicone if the tank is empty.

Thanks for the reply. The tank looks good. No scratches and the silicone looks good as well. It is a single 1.5" drain and 3/4" return. But that shouldn't be a problem correct? Maybe I'll try to do a Herbie style setup.

The more flow the better. The herbie would be a nice addition, then use the existing holes for returns. I drilled 5 holes in my 125, just go slow and have patience.

Well, there are 2 holes now and I don't plan on adding any extra. I would just do a return over the back since the 2 holes would be used for the Herbie set up. The 1.5" for the drain and the other 3/4" for the emergency drain. Does that make sense?

Ya that would work. Sorry, I'm thinking back when I did mine and used 3 drain holes. 1 full siphon 1 over flow and 1 emergency. Is the current overflow off to the side or in the middle?

The overflow is in the middle. Since it's a 1.5" drain that's technically supposed to be at 1400 gph so I was thinking of getting a bigger pump than what the current owner had. Maybe an 1800-2200 gph. I measured the linear overflow size and it's only about 12" width. Will that allow for 1400gph? What do you think? Thanks for your advice!

i like the pumps that you can adjust the flow, so i get the biggest one i can afford. you know just in case you upgrade your tank to a bigger tank and use the 150 as a sump, :)

How long has it been sitting in the garage though?
The list seems worth $800 provided you can take out 3-4 years out of all the equipment.

Anthony...lol...I'm lucky i'm able to upgrade from my 66 gallon to this...biggest tank I've ever...previous biggest was a 75g...so this should satisfy me for awhile...it better according to my wife!! Lol

Sumer...it was running up until 1 month ago. I know I'll have to get new bulbs and hopefully the other stuff holds up for awhile...i guess we'll see.

If you do decide to run a herbie I would use the 3/4" as the siphon and the 1.5" as the emergency. As to running more flow through the sump, if noise is a consideration you may not want to run close to the max that your overflow "can" do. Even at 750gph that is a 5x turnover which is adequate for your sump.

Ian, will the 3/4" drain even allow 750gph through? I though a 1" drain typically can do 600gph under ideal situations. So will the extra gph come from the emergency drain?

I never thought about switching and doing the main drain as the 3/4" and the 1.5" as the emergency.

Under full syphon it should be able to handle that flow without issue. Check out this flow chart. Assuming an average pressure between 20-100psi (full syphon) you would be able to reach 1400gph through a 3/4" rigid PVC. Without syphon only about 660gph.
