So I think I am reaching the end of my stocking ability on my 220 gallon mixed reef. I wanted to gather everyone's input and see if you think I am almost there.

I have:

copperband butterfly
2 ocellaris clowns
3 royal grammas
leopard wrasse
tomini tang
flame angel
lemon peel angel
yasha haze goby
starry blenny
blue devil damsel
magnificent foxface
marine betta

Still on my want list is a purple tang, a golden semilarvatus butterfly and a regal angel. Think I have room for all of it, or will it be too much. I also have about 200 pounds of live rock in the tank.

You will definitely be close after adding those. How much do you trust your nutrient export and filtration system? You'll have one hell of a bioload...

You're going to get divergent opinions on this I'm afraid. The ability of any tank to house fish is a function of its ability to manage waste and the amount of space available. A 220 with loads of rock is going to house less fish than one with less rock and lots of open swimming room.

Your proposed 18 fish don't strike me as excessive for a 220, but then it depends. As comparison, I have almost 50 fish in my 265 :lolspin: (which I concede is probably too many). BTW, lemonpeel as among my very favorite fish, but can be a SoB in a reef tank.

Add them. At least, I would. Lots of those fish are small (damsel, goby, clowns, dwarf angels, grammas). Definitely need a large angel in there. I love regals. Purple tangs are my favorite - although good luck finding one. I haven't seen any purple tangs anywhere, online or otherwise! I'd throw in one really cool wrasse as well.

Let's see a video, sounds like an amazing tank!

I have a purple tang coming from Mike at nyaquatics in the morning, so he'll be in quarantine for a bit before he makes it into the DT. What do you mean by nutrient export and filtration system, I have a bubble magus curve nine in my sump. Are there other things I should add? This is my first tank...

I was speaking of filtration in general. I like to get my skimmer over-sized, and run filter socks as well from time to time...
