I'm building my first ever reef tank, so I figured I'd start a build thread to follow my progress.

155 gallon bow front tank with black stand.
[I'll add all equipment here in a bit]

I just got done drilling the holes for my tank since nothing was drilled at all when I got it. I went with 2 drain and 1 return. I put the return in the middle and figured it would help push water on the back side of the live rock.

I cannot for the life of me find 1" loc-line so I'm going to step it down to 3/4" and run dual nozzles to keep the pressure up. I'm wanting to run around 1500 GPH.

The drilling took way longer than I expected, around an hour for all of them, but then again it was very thick glass. Overall success. I'm glad it's finished so I can get to plumbing!

That's a nice looking tank. Stand and sump look good too. You will have fun filling that tank up...

While trying to buy stuff at my local shop (they dont have much in hardware) I left empty handed when trying to find either an overflow or some type of filters to put on the ends of my bulkheads for my drain.

I'm really involved in 3D printed, did a bit of research on 3D printed items and reef tanks. The only requirement was to make sure it was printed in ABS which what I already sometimes print in.

So I did some looking around and found a model for bulk head filters. All I had to do was modify the threads to fit my bulkhead and make it large enough to fit. Boom, 1" drain filters.
I dont plan on using an overflow, just sticking these guys straight on the bulkheads and going with it. I've got ball valves behind the bulkheads to tune the water flow since I'll be running dual 1" drain lines down to the sump.

I'm actually printing hooks to hang off the side of my sump to hold my carbon reactor. Next on the list will be a refugium light bracket.

Those 3D printers must be handy gadgets.

My progress for today:
Most all plumbing complete.
RO/DI mounted under tank
Reactor hanging off side of the sump
All pumps in their respective spots and lines ran.

I'm missing the membrane filter to my RO side, which should be here tonight from UPS. Once that arrives i'll start mixing salt water in a bin that holds around 50 gal.
