I have a space on my rockwork I need to fill and was wondering if anyone could recommend some corals that might fit the bill?. I previously had a Torch coral there but had to move it because the flow was too strong. The space is a third of the way up from the bottom, my lighting is a 320w Maxspect Razor so light intensity isnt really an issue. Ideally the coral needs to be peaceful as I have monti caps and a candy cane growing nearby, either LPS or SPS are fine, the space in question is around 5 - 6 inches in size and as I said the flow is fairly high in this area so the coral needs to like a bit of flow.

I prefer LPS corals but the majority are aggressive and like low flow so im assuming I may have to go with an SPS coral. The only other thing I can think of is a clam.. my LFS has some beautiful blue ones in at the moment, although I know nothing about caring for them.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Can you post a picture of your tank and the open space?

This isnt the greatest picture but its the best I have at the moment. I have drawn an arrow to show the 'shelf' you can see where the Torch coral was:

I have found clams to be more sensitive to flow than torches. How about a nice digi to compliment the caps?

+1 to the Digitata or maybe a Birdsnest.

If you go the Clam route, Maximas tolerate a little more flow than the rest, but they still don't like continuous/steady streams.

(Nice tank, BTW! )

If you look directly up from the arrow you'll see a couple of Digi's with a birdsnest to the right :) I like them but I would prefer to try something else in that spot, I was thinking of some type of Montipora though, are there any others I could try? I love the look of the encrusting type but have been told they will kill other corals as they grow?

Regarding clams, I thought they liked flow. My LFS has two in their SPS tank.. perhaps they are shielded from the brunt of it, I will look the next time im in.

Not at all,but if you already have clove polyps,it might be a bad suggestion.

I know you said lps/sps, but If you want something different, could do pipe organ coral. Likes lots of flow and is peaceful.

How about Montipora Undata?
