Ok, no snickering! I finally completed the very basic mantis shrimp tank how-to video and put it up on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=27ejOxSlTQY

Apologize for the length, but it's got some of the fundamentals in there for new owners.

Here's another video I took of Neptune the other day: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_xQ5B6CQEG0

Enjoy!

Well done!

One major error I noticed (not in the advice, but the setup) was actually your thermometer.. if that breaks you do not want mercury in your setup.. Stick on's aren't that great either.. but safer. I'd recommend trying something like this instead: http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?c=3578+3744+12089&pcatid=12089 (this one is better all around, it isn't made of anything harmful if it breaks, and the metal prob is covered to reduce heavy metals in the water, plus it's easy to read.)

Otherwise everything looks very good!

Yeah that's a good point, I should know too because my first mantis shrimp shattered my glass thermometer. I can just put the thermometer in my refugium actually.

A mercury thermometer must look like a curious little mollusc to a stomatopod...

You can always make "Part 2"!
