Hi guys. I got a banana eel in the QT. Planning to put him into a newly made 100gal. I'm looking for some cheap tank mates. a little more on the aggressive side. A marine betta.. some damsels?

will wrasse be ok??

any inverts that's ok?

thanks!

No clue, but nice. Had to look it up. Sounds like some bigger fish. Any pics of the eel tank?

Search banana or goldentail moray (same species - Gymnothorax miliaris) on this forum... lots of info. They are quite docile, from what I've read.

Thanks! Here is the tank. This will be mainly for him. All other inverts and fish will be for decoration and movement. I read just about all the threads found on google. Seems like anything decent sized and fast is ok. I'll probably toss in 2 big clowns, a few wrasse and some colorful damsels.

I'll keep the tank filled with inverts for snack. Currently I'm training him in QT to feed. He hasn't eaten yet.

nice decorative tank, almost a modern piece of sculpture with that aquascape. even without livestock.

I hate to say it but that tank looks terrible for keeping an eel. Way too vertical, not enough footprint.

That aside, the species is relatively docile but if its tank mates are small enough it will probably munch one eventually. You'll want to stick with things at least as big as its head. It will also eat any crabs or shrimp you put in there. Snails and (maybe) sea hares and nudibranchs should be okay though.
