Can someone who has a 180 clarify the dimensions? I know it's 72" L x 24" W but I just read that some of the models (with black trim included) are:

72 1/2" x 24 1/2"

Just want to be sure before I make a stand for it... though I guess it's not a huge issue. Could make it 72 1/2" x 24 1/2" regardless and have 1/4" extra on the ends if that's what it is.

Thanks

Dimensions can vary by manufactuer. Pick your tank first and then build the stand. Personally, I wouldn't build anything unless I already had the tank. Plastic trim is never perfect and could effect the fit. You could build it larger but a bag is great place for detritus and water to collect.

Every 180 I have seen (and owned) was 24"x72" to the outside edges of the glass, but then the trim adds some to both dimensions and it's variable. For example, my 265 is 84" long to the glass edges, but 85 1/2" to the trim edges. My old 180 was 25" x 73" to the trim edges. If you are going to build a stand tank unseen, I'd add 1 1/2" to all dimensions.

I wouldn't risk it. Why not just wait until you get the tank, then build the tank?

Building the stand first is like the proverbial putting the cart before the horse!
