I just picked up my first volitan lion and although the LFS had him eating minnows, I don't feel like that's the best course of nutrition for the little guy. Any tips or advice on what to feed and how often?

Probably not what you want to hear but I'd recommend a book that helped alot for me :)

That said minnows should be converted off of asap. You can try live ghostshrimp or frozen silversides to ween him off. Both I would recommend enriching with vitamins prior to feeding. If you feed a frozen mix of goodies (clam, squid, shrimp, fish, etc), he may also partake in that if the chunks are large enough. They can be picky to start though with only live food prior to.

I'll check out the book, for sure. And yeah, I figured the minnows weren't good. He has a voracious appetite so I'm hoping it won't be too hard to get him on silversides. What vitamins should one use to enrich the food with?

Can you get your hands on any LRS "chunky" blend? If not try pieces of shrimp, fish, squid, fresh seafood on the end of a feeding stick.
