A few weeks ago I washed 80 lbs of Carribsea sand that was supposed to be already rinsed. It wasn't. But I washed it anyway for 4 or 5 hrs so good and clear running that Sk8er would have be impressed.
Three days ago I decided to add one more bag. Something called me away for a while. When I returned I opened the bag and immediately dumped that 20 lb bag into the 120 gal that I had just spent 2 days filling with RODI water. Is there anything I can do besides dumping out the whole tank

I'd just wait.

Would it be better to hold off on the power heads? I just added ammonia to begin the cycle.

just leave it be, it will settle, eventually.

Leave it and let it settle or if you have a reactor, fill it with filter floss and run that for a while. That helped mine when I changed my sand bed. A friend went out and bought a diatom filter for tanks, but those are expensive plus you have to buy powder to put on the filter.

Run your powerheads and skimmer. The dust will get, to some extent, skimmed out.

If you have a canister filter stuff it full of ( polyester pillow stuffing) filter floss and run it for a few days

I have no filters in operation yet and am just beginning to set things up . At this time, I have rock and sand in the tank. I do have a hob filter or 3 waiting to crank up for the QT's. I might run some floss sheets through the tank real slow and see what that does. What do you think?
