334639Ordered a red Flower Pot coral and received this. Was expecting longer polyps. Is it a Goniopora? If not what did I get?

Yes that is a Gonipora, what are your water parameters and how long has it been in your tank?

Water parameters are normal with the exception of salinity which got a little high on me due to auto water change error. Slowly bringing it back down. It has been in the tank for about a week now. When it gets settled will the polyps extend or is this a different type of Goniopora?

Hard to tell from the picture, but it could also be a Lepastrea. If it is Goniopora, it should extend once it feels happy in your tank.

Goniopora
Sometimes they can take quite awhile to settle in.
Looks like a real nice one. Good luck.

Goniopora. It hasn't yet felt comfortable extending it's polyps. It will look like that at night as well.

Time for a little update. I found and purchased an actual red flower pot coral frag. I mounted the frag a couple of inches from the mystery coral for comparison. It opened up right away and is what I would expect. Which still makes me wonder what the other coral really is.

One more time with pictures turned correctly.

Yep. Like I said on my previous post. This looks more like Lepastrea or maybe a type of Montipora.

Looks nice though.

The more I look at pictures of Montipora the more I think you are correct. Waiting for LA to get back to me and admit their mistake. Thank you for your comments.
