Currently I have a Radion XR30W PRO on a 93 Cube (30X30X24) and I am having a canopy made. Thinking about removing the Radion and putting a retro T5 or a 24" ATI module inside the canopy. I had a few concerns in this order of priority. If anyone can shed light on it (no pun intended) :bum:

1. I have a BTA and a couple of SPS frags. Will the T5 alone at that size be enough?
2. What about heat? Will it overheat the tank? Tank is in a room with around 72F temperature all year around. Don't want to add a chiller.
3. Is a ATI module necessary or I can use any other cheap T5 mount? What else do I need to make it work? I am completely new to T5.

I was able to completely Bleach and STN many SPS frags simply by placing them higher or increasing the Radion intensity. I think T5s will be better for me since I don't want to fiddle with LEDs.

I think a t5 retro would work for sps and a bta but you need to use quality reflectors and bulbs. You can use a ati module but in either case you need to make sure the canopy is well vented

Cool. Can a ATI Sunpower or a Giesemann Matrix II module be taken apart and put in a canopy instead of a cheaper made retrofit kit?

Anything is possible but I wouldn't try it. the LET t5 retrofit kits that sites like BRS sell seem to get really good reviews. I would read up on those before anything else.

I checked out Miro LET and Giesemann Razors. The reason why I wanted the fixture was it had 8 bulbs and that's what I would need for a T5 only solution on a 30x30. Unless you tell me 4 are enough :)

You will need 8 bulbs, you can buy as many refrofit kits as you need
