1yellow watchman goby
1 scooter dragonet
1 kaurdens cardinal fish
1 smalll emerald crab
1 chocolatechip starfish.... which will be moved into the sump
About 7 snails.... mostly astreas and ceriths

Looking to get 4-8 more nani fish

Any suggestions?..... looking to get all sorts of color throughout the tank and max im willing to pay per fish is $25

Thanks

There is 75 lbs of rock in this system

Tank is a fowlr and only about 40lbs of rock is in the main display .....so plenty of space

You may have some issues with the scooter unless it is eating frozen or flake food. They eat pods and will need an established tank. You could do a coral beauty or flame angle. Also you could do a pistol shrimp. I had a pistol shrimp watchman goby pair in my 75. Have you thought about skunk cleaner shrimp or a fire shrimp? They're pretty cool.

I was thinking of a pistol shrimp for the yellow watchman..... also the scooter has been eatting mysis shrimp

Wouldnt the coral beauty or flame angel be aggressive towards small tankmates?

I have a coral beauty and its chill. When you add them last and everyone else already has their spots they just flow into the system. I highly recommend a CB. Just pick one that looks chill at the LFS. :fish1:

Is there any way i could add damsels or chromis to this tank?..... will they be too aggresive for the current tankmates?..... any specific kinds of chromis and damsels that dont tend to be aggresive?

From everything Ive read on here dont get Damsels at all. Chromis are hit or miss. Althought many people claim the will turn and eat everyone except 1 or 2 of them.

Im thinking about these fish for a small school in my 65 gallon ...

Chromis are only known to be aggressive towards each other.

What about a type of wrasse? Very active!

Midas blenny, royal gramma, Capenter or McCoskers Wrasse. The dragonette will not compete for food so the more fish you add the more likely he will be to starve.

i would be careful with that choclate chip star in the sump. i had 5 in my grow out system sump, 3 were badly damaged when they decided to wander in the intake for the skimmer or return pump. one was outright killed.

they're not bright animals, and will apparently stick those arms anywhere. so make sure any pump inlets are covered.

some McCoskers would be awesome. 1 male 2 female and watch how he will patrol around them. beautiful fish.

I will third the MoCoskers Wrasse. I love mine. He's generally very peaceful and always out and about. Once in a while my purple firefish will decide to be territorial (he's a pain) and everyone will move down to one side of the tank. Well my Wrasse won't have it and does this aggressive circling around the firefish with his mouth posturing and the fins all out. It takes 2 - 3 circles and the firefish bolts into the rocks and all is peaceful again. It's amazing to watch.

6 line will gobble up that pistol real fast. dont get me wrong the chromis are super pretty fish and can be very peaceful. I just had 3, with 1 of them being much much larger, and he was very aggressive towards the smaller ones, but they stuck together and it never got bad.

If you want peaceful then no damselfish is going to be a good fit in your tank.

Do a lot of research on that pistol shrimp. I had a red banded one and small snails and crabs would misteroiusly disappear. Also otherwise healthy and eating cleaner shrimp and green mandarin just disappeared one night.Traded pistol shrimp and no more mysteries in the tank.

Will a firefish, zebra dartfish and scissor tail dartfish fight?

Fishfreak_MA

I've never had an issue with my pistol shrimp.... Coral banded shrimp would definitely pick off livestock but pistol shrimp are pretty much blind. The fish would have to swim right into its burrow and even at that I'd think you'd find part of the body.

The dart fish may or may not fight. Do a search on keeping multiple firefish. You'll see many different stories. I have a purple and a regular and that get along okay. My wrasse keeps the purple firefish in check. It's kinda funny.

Yea when i did research i saw mixed reviews on mixing them so thought i would ask

That's just my experience, I am sure I got a rogue one. It was paired with a little YMG. I never put any LR or live sand or big colonies of corals in the tank so I know there were no hitchhikers (i always dip my frags). Mandarins sleep on substrate, easy target for pistol shrimp. Cleaner shrimp wonders around on the substrate at night, again, an easy target for pistol shrimp. My tank is fully covered so no chance they jumped.

Narrowed it down

Current fish
2 clowns
1 firefish
1 kaudrens cardinal
1 yellow watchman goby
1 scooter dragonet
1 chocolate chip star
1 emerald crab

Thinking about slowly adding
1 blue/green chromis
1 green clown goby
1 neon blue goby
1 royal gramma basslet

And maybe one candy pistol shrimp

Thoughts?
