Ok guys and galls, I just received my new needle wheel for my jabeo pump the wheel is made in Polland and bought threw ebay 45.00 bucks , I have to say its a nice part and makes a great skimmer pump, I replaced my redline pump with dc 6000 with new needle wheel, wow what a difference ,I use a bubble magnus air venturi ,I drilled the venturi out large to move more water, that also was a vast improvement , the needle wheel looks to me it was 3d printed . the wheel is the same for all the pumps, I have not got my hands on the new 15000 pump so Im not sure it uses the same type of shaft to fit the wheel. This set up might make the best skimmer pump ever!!

I orderd a second im curios to see the differance between a dc6000 and a dc12000 with the same needle wheel , i think also , maybe clipping some pins off the wheel will help as well.

how much air does it pull ?

and how deep is the pump in the water?

I run the aquatrance 3000 rated at 30 but barely pulls 10 at 2' depth for a big recirc skimmer.

tell me how to check the amount of air it draws? Im experimenting with the dc-6000 now its sitting in 12.5" of water and the skimmer is 22" to top of neck and 8.5" od . I have been experimenting with different air ventures , my skimmer is standard non-recirc but I have a spare dc 12000 that I ordered the othe needle wheel for and was going to recirc mod it with that pump and new needle wheel . Im going to experiment first to see the difference between the two pumps first before I mod the skimmer.

They make adapters to put on the end of the air intake to measure the air volume.

All of my stuff (minus a new pump) is on the way.

well I can tell you it pulls two air lines one 3/8 one 1/4 . I tried the wheel on the 12000 it needs a different air venturi than the one I am using for the 6000 I am sure the 12000 with the right one will work great. Also the heads and impellers are all interchangeable with all models .the 12000 impeller will fit in the 6000 and vise / vers.

I made my new air venturi works better than the bubble magnus.

I was planning on ordering a 6000 for it.

I used a pvc 1 1/4 threaded adapter and a 1 1/4 to 1/2 adapter and drill it just into the cross web section , the inside of the 1/2 adapter. just behind the end of the threads, then glue vinyl tubing into hole , I am currently running two air lines , as easy it is to make I will experiment with more air lines and inlet size.

I got my needle wheel in today. I believe I will need a 6000 pump as I have a 12" skimmer body.

kenneth wolfe
12/21/2015, 10:18 PM
yea...but its only 23 bucks difference from the 12000 and you can always turn it down ,

Rowdeus
12/21/2015, 10:25 PM
So are you saying go with a 12000 instead of the 6000?

Rowdeus
12/21/2015, 10:29 PM
Also you could go up to 5/16" line for the air inlet.

Yes , It seems way better than original redline pump , I added a few dozen bio-balls to my skimmer as a experiment so far so good, if nothing else it keeps the inside of the body real clean , it was covered in algae on most of the inside..

The next mod is going to add another jebao as a recirculation pump.

I bought one of these from the link in the video. I haven't tried it yet. Bought it for a Jebao DCT12000. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Odbka05Lklg&t=9s

also found this http://www.myaquastore.com/en/red-devil-dc-variable-speed-pump-dc-inverter-variable-speed-pump-needle-brush-red-devil-frequency-needle-brush-pump-dc10000s-2731.html

Question: How would a DCT15000 with a needle wheel work any differently than a Sedra 15000 with a needle wheel?

The speed of the Jebao is controllable. If you add the cost of the pump and needle wheel conversion, the Jebao is about $80 more.

How big is your skimmer?

I have a DIY. It is about 15 gallons, 12" diameter and 42" high. I am using one Sedra 15000 on it.

Those tiny cone skimmer pumps are like tinker toys compared to a Sedra 15000.

Even though I bought the needle wheel for the Jebao, the Sedra is working so well, I don't want to mess with it. When I do, I will post pics of the foam difference.

The needle wheel works pretty good buy itself I found I still had to mesh the wheel to get bubbles small, use one pump for feed other for the recirculation pump, witch ever one makes the smallest bubbles use it for tje recirculation pump and other gor feed pump, the printed wheen should work better than the twistman wheel I use,

Don't know what the differance in shaft size is but these are findable that fit the dct4000 - Is what the Ati Powercone skimmers use now
