I want to build a work platform for my fish room so that i can have a more secure and wider standing point to do maintenance in my tank, opposed to a ladder.

Optimally the platform itself would be 36"x20" on top, and stand 42" tall. Would be great if it could roll and lock down (securely) when stepped up on, but not a requirement.

Anyone have any DIY specs for something like this? Or is there something online already assembled that you know of that would save me the build time?

You can get small scaffolding stands with wheels on them. We have a couple at work that are adjustable but they aren't to cheep if I remember. Check Grainger.com

I'm not sure how your setup works but you may be able to do something like this.

Something like the northern tools would work if i had somewhere to put it when not in use. I may give that a try.

Marc's is what made me think of doing this, but my underneath of tank area doesn't have the space. I should have planned for that in hind sight

I work off those sometimes, they can be tippy if narrow, and I would definitely make sure you have locking wheels.
You don't want that rolling out under you w/ arms in tank, cause you are going to instinctively grab that tank as you go down.
I have an aluminum step ladder that folds up, works great for me, they have them in different heights, 2,3,4 step, and fairly cheap, even walmart and target carry them.
I saw one at walmart that was 4 step and had a little tray for $35

I use a two step folding step stool that I store behind the tank. Last thing I need is something else taking up space.

I was looking for the brand on mine, amazing they didn't stamp it, but I'm pretty sure it is Cosco(Not Costco)
Folds up really slim, probably same as Billdogg's

I picked up the metaltech one from northern tools today. Seems to be working great. I wish it were about 4" taller on the upper level, but I have plenty of access still. Doesn't seem too wobbly either. And it folds up nicely so i can put in a closet.
