I'm totally excited. I had my local LFS looking for a natural pair of Candy Basslets. They just called and I completed a purchase for a natural pair of candy basslets. Should be here next Wednesday.
I'll try to post pictures when I get them.

What does a "natural pair" mean? Like they were paired in the wild, i.e. paired when collected?

Yes collected as a pair in the wild. Rather then trying to pair two juveniles.

Very nice and congrats! Many whole sale and LFS refer to pairs like that as "true pair".

That's awesome. I know it's rude, but there are no manners online anymore....HOW MUCH?!

Unfortunately she passed away. Not a pleasant memory. Thinking back I think I QT her to long. She was in a tank by herself from March to July. I specifically built or upgraded my tank for her just to have her die a month after adding her.
My withdrawal made me go and purchase this though https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20151210/557a7f02fd3d542d40196d83e8da101e.jpg

I promised my LFS I wouldn't say the price but it was between $1000 and $1500.

True. From my understanding the wholesaler had two wild caught pairs. One was already sold and this pair was still available. My LFS was contacted prior to the list being posted to Japan (this morning). The Wholesaler told him that they would have been gone to Japan if we didn't get them last night. Sounds like 99% are shipped to Japan unless they (wholesaler) know someone is looking in the US. Which I was.
I could have purchased two juveniles and tried to pair for about $400 less. Which is what is typically done.

Thanks, I lucked out on this one.
Stress of not being around other fish. Even though she was the largest fish in the tank.
It was weird her personality changed, almost like someone was picking on her, which I watched closely for and no, no one was. Hid a lot and slowly lost interest in eating, etc. It wasnt like I had a lot of time either she went extremely fast.
I think she just got accustomed to no other fish. To long in QT.
I keep kicking myself could have done this could have done that. 2nd guessing. But she couldn't have lived in a 40 breeder her entire life.
I miss her and her personality everyday. Was hand feeding her in my QT tank. It was the fish that made me get into this hobby....etc etc.

Nice fat looking gem. I was somewhat apprehensive about getting one and how their personality would be compared to a purple. I'm happy to say mine is still a tang but not quite a jerk as my purple was.
Mine is still a juvenile and everyday it seems like the spots become whiter and clearer.

Nice! Personally, of the Holy Trinity (gem, conspic, clarion) I would take the gem every time.

First pic and probably only for a bit letting them get acclimated.
Pictures never do these fish justice.
However I was very pleased. It must be a young pair and they are on the smaller size ~1.5 inches.

Awesome. I love those fish! A guy in our local reef club has one. So pretty in person.
Will you try another conspic?

Yes but it might be several years from now. I bonded to much with the girl I had to go look for another one now. I've never had a fish with so much personality. Even my flame wrasses that I can basically pet don't have the same personality.
My tank is now stocked. The Candies were/are the last fish I'm adding.
This is going to sound weird but I posted my other new addition in the anemone section. I've always wanted and have waited for a blue S. Gigantea. I have an unwritten about anemones I want to see it with my own eyes before I purchase it. So this one was more and wait till one came in, and it did.
So I'm now having trouble between admiring the anemone or the candies. I know a big problem.

Just updating post. I'm happy to say the candies are just as healthy and happy as the Jocs. I also know on this thread I posted my gem. It's healthy and happy as ever.
Based on the research I had done before I purchased them and now having them around a year. If I was someone and I had a smaller (especially) or larger tank and I wanted a stunning show fish I would definitely recommend a candy.
You can normally get them and for a rarer fish they are not that expensive. Also as everyone know they are probably one of the best looking saltwater fish out there. Also they are not going to eat your coral and are extremely hardy.
If you worried about them hiding all the time they don't. They act like a typically basslet in and out of the rock work.

Wait....these were a naturally collected pair. I know that you can try to pair them and a lot of people have had success but the natural pairing I think is special.
Also the amount of time these two spend by each other is impressive.
Good luck.
