Went to my LFS, they had a really good sale going on, buy four get for free. Thing is I thought my receipt would have the name of the corals on it, but I wasn't that lucky. Can you guys help me out and name them for me? that way I can place them correctly in the tank.

The right one in the first pic is a Favia of some kind. The second is a Duncan. The third is a hammer. I believe the fifth is a frog spawn but it's tough to tell. The other two are palys and Zoas.

imo #2 looks like a duncan, # 3 looks like my frogspawn when retracted, # 5 looks similar to a galaxia coral

thank you very much, what I'm I looking at as far as placement? what can't I put together?

All corals have defensive mechanisms, try to keep them from touching one another for as long as you can. Those palys & zoas will spread fastest, I would try to keep them isolated in an area you choose by putting small rocks & rubble around them.

I am thinking that the #5 is not a frogspawn. Looks more like a ricordia. If it is all soft with no skeleton then I would say its a ric. 3rd could easily be either frogspawn or hammer depending on the polyps when it is extended. Frogspawn has little balls while the hammer tips look more like an oval or a mallet. Just keep a few inches between each coral and you should be fine.

#4 might be a Ricordia Mushroom but #5 is definitely a Frogspawn & #3 is a Hammer coral

It's a rhodactis not a ricordea.

Way too fleshy for a frogspawn. I have one and it looks nothing like that. It may not be a mushroom, it could be a leather too but I doubt it. Just look at the tips, they are coming from a cap not tentacles.

#3 could be either, you can't tell for sure until it extends. It is too retracted for a positive ID. That said, the 2 corals are extremely similar so for care and placement they are treated the same.

It's a rhodactis not a ricordea.

I think you might be right about the rhodactis. I'm not 100% sure but it certainly does not look like a LPS coral at all.

I'm not going to start a ****ing contest here...but I bet most people would agree with me on the Frogspawn & Hammer corals....that being said....you are a bit off on your identifications is all.

from what I remember I think the guy at the shop said it was a hairy mushroom, does that sounds right? Thanks for all the input gents.

Yes either hairy or fuzzy mushroom but it's still a rhodactis.

LOL, thanks for proving my point. Its a rhodactis, otherwise called a hairy mushroom. Looks like this in person right?

I'll tell you what...you are from Mankato, the Vikings train there...if you are a Vikings fan, you are OK with me, even though I don't think Teddy is the answer.

4. Is the rodachtis 5. Is the hairy mushroom, which I originally thought was a galaxia. No way is 5 a frogspawn, just look at the polyp size compared to the plug.

You must have missed what I said. Rhodactis is both hairy and or fuzzy mushroom. They are all one in the same.
