Situation:

I have a 55g tank with:

2 x Ocellaris Clownfish (I think they are Ocellaris, that's what they look like anyway)
1 x Blue Chromis
Several Toadstool Leather corals
Several Mushroom corals
1 x Clove polyps frag
1 x Trumpet frag

I also have a 90g that will be in operation very soon. I'm painting the stand this week, then I'll start cycling around Christmas. This isn't a "one day i'll have a 90g" it's a "I have a 90g, it's just not actually cycling yet".

The 90g and 55g will share the same sump.

Stocking Plans

I'm starting to plan out the stock for both tanks. I'm sure of three things:

1) I want a pair of clowns in each tank.
2) I want a tang in the 90g. I'm leaning towards a yellow tang.
3) I want many LPS corals in the 90g, and soft corals / LPS in the 55g.

I think a Bubble Tip Anemone would be cool once I have better lighting as well.

Today

I'm off work today and tomorrow, so it's a perfect time to add a few more fish to the tank.

I'm thinking of adding the following to the 55g today:

1 x Royal Gramma
1 x Firefish
2 x Kaudern's Cardinalfish

January / February:

1 x Yellow Tang (to 90g assuming it's fully cycled. If not, I'd add it to the 55g, and then move it to the 90g when the 90g finishes cycling)

Notes:

I want to avoid expensive fish & corals - at least for now.

I'm planning on a pair of Kessil A160's or A360's for the 90g long term, but for now the 90g will be FOWLR.

Questions

Does today's plan sound reasonable?

Any suggestions?

That looks good to me. One thing I recommend is making the Yellow Tang the very last fish you put into the 90g. They are very aggressive IME, to newcomers once they are established. Just my 2 cents

Tang Last - Noted :)

I purchased a Firefish and a Royal Gramma yesterday.

I'd like to add two Kaudern's Cardinalfish and a Lawnmower Blenny next, but I'm nervous that the LMB will not find enough algae growth in the tank.

I have read that you can feed them nori and sinking algae pellets, so I'll probably still make that my next set late this month / early next month.

Yes, mines eat Nori along with my Tangs. I feed them Nori 3 times a week. For the 55, I don't know if the LMB and the Midas Blenny will get along in that size tank. Some hobbyist have got away with it. It may be hit or miss. A LMB can be a jerk, mines finally settled down, he was harassing my Hawkfish.

It is hit or miss if you will get a Fire Fish that is a jumper. Make sure you have a lid on the tank.

I have eggcrate on the top of the tank.

Thanks for the warning.

I have a lot of live rock and hopefully they will have plenty of room for territory.

I'll either figure out another fish or make sure there is room in the 90g for the Midas Blenny if there is a problem.

Update:

Current Stock:
2 x Ocellaris Clownfish
1 x Blue Chromis
1 x Royal Gramma
1 x Firefish

Adding the last two fish (and increasing my feeding frequency) has resulted in no ammonia spike over the last 5 days.

I'm going to quarantine the next set before I add them, but now I'm not sure what I want to add.

My original plan was:
2 x Kaudern's Cardinalfish
1 x Lawnmower Blenny

But now I'm looking at other options... Any suggestions?
