how many would be ideal to buy for a ten gallon fuge to grow cheato?

and will these lights grow it fast?

1 should cover that tank well, and they grow chaeto fast, I usually remove half of my chaeto on a weekly or bi-weekly basis.

With a 5:1 ratio of red to blue, do you find that macro color is different than with 1:1 ratio.

No, the algae is still its normal color, chaeto is dark green once you take it under white light to look at it, and my turf algae scrubber has everything from brown, yellow, green, orange, and red. Both are under the refugium lights with our layout.

While the chlorophyll reflects many of those colors, it absorbs mostly blue, violet, and red light, that is all it needs to grow. Most of the yellow/green light goes to waste.
