I'm picking up a 250 Deep Dimension and it has (2) 32" Photon LED's and a 24" Photon LED but I'm wondering if this isn't overkill. It currently has the 24" on the right side in a front to back configuration and the 32" Photon's on the left side mounted from left to right with one in the front and one in the back.

My question is could the 32" lights be mounted front to back with one on the left side and one on the right side?

Hi Aaron,

It sounds like the current setup is good, the 32s won't cover 36" front to back effectively with just one row.

But you feel the 24" light will? Why? That confuses me.

My other thought was to put a 32 and 24 from left to right mounted in the middle of the depth to create a 56" light. There is a brace in the way but most of the rock will be in the center. What do you think about that?

I really appreciate your help.

How are these lights laid out? Dimensions of the tank?

It's 60" W x 36" D x 27" H with a center brace. I've got (2) 32" and (1) 24" light. The previous owner had both 32" lights on the left opening of the tank installed one in front and one in back parallel to the front. He had the 24" light above the right opening installed perpendicular to the front installed front to back.

To light such a tank you need 6 32 inch lights

I have the 200 gallon

You need 3 rows of lights or you will dim areas that both provide very low par and unpleasant asthetics.

Then that's why the 24 can cover 36", it is covering that side to side, with 24" of light. It will not cover 36" front to back, with 8.5" of width on the actual light.

I would recommend 3 32s, perpendicular to the tank, 2 won't really cut it for full coverage, 2 32s and a 24 can work with the 24 covering 36" x 20", and the 32s covering 36" x 40".

Thank you. Would 10 - 12" off the surface be sufficient?

That should be a good mounting height for that tank.
